Purpose of Position:
The SSN-G2G Coordinator will act as a liaison and primary point of contact between the Tk’emlúps Leadership and various departments within the organization, the SSN Office team and the other SSN signatory community of Skeetchestn, and where required the partners, by communicating and coordinating the various strategic initiatives and work required to successfully advance meaningful participation is the initiative. The SSN has evolved a resource sharing protocol and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which includes participation of TteS designation at government to government (G2G) tables, resource conservation, overseeing stewardship, and constitutional protection of indigenous rights. The SSN-G2G Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that Tk’emlúps is fulfilling its participatory role and commitments to the SSN process at the highest standard possible.
Specifically, the SSN G2G Coordinator is responsible for conducting tasks that will ensure the overall purpose, operational goals and objectives of each of the strategic initiatives and commitments described in the various agreements, protocols and MOU’s (such as the work plan and engagement approach and/or other independent project(s) assigned to Tk’emlúps). As well, other relevant tasks that may be assigned from time to time, are to be completed within respective timelines and budgets. The SSN G2G Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with the various interjurisdictional tables provided for under the SSN agreements. Moreover, the SSN G2G Coordinator will be integral in facilitating, supporting, and contributing to work required to advance the goals and objectives of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc within the SSN process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and liaises with external agencies and institutions as required for successful implementation of the SSN process; oversees and facilitates the development of associated strategic initiatives/projects; (95%)
- Acts as a primary point of contact, liaison and facilitates the supporting work required for meaningful participation in SSN processes.
- Attends and participates in, and occasionally organizes, meetings, working groups and other related tables as required.
- Works internally with Tk’emlúps Kukpi7 and Tkwenem7iple7 and staff in the communication of all correspondence received related to the SSN and distributes accordingly.
- Develops written reports and recommendations as per the progress of the SSN.
- Provides strategic advice to the Tk’emlúps Kukpi7 and Tkenem7iple7 as well as the SSN Office on matters pertaining to land and resource issues, economic and governance interests, including Aboriginal rights and title.
- Researches, compiles, analyzes and updates relevant strategic initiative/project data as required.
- Builds relationships, coordinates, organizes and monitors various stakeholders to ensure strategic initiatives and projects provided for under the SSN are completed as agreed.
- Supports the implementation of the SSN Work Plans and Engagement Approach.
- Directs and works cooperatively with staff as required.
- Responds to all SSN inquiries.
- May be responsible for managing funds relating to the agreement on special projects, from time to time.
- Is available for flexible hours/non normal shifts where required based on role, travel, and other project requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality on all Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc and SSN related matters.
- All other related duties as required. (5%)
Professional Certification, Education and Experience:
- A degree in Political Science, Law, First Nations Studies, Natural Resources or related discipline or 3-5 years work experience in a similar work environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Must have an appreciation and knowledge of Secwépemc cultural values, history and protocols.
- Extensive experience working with and for Secwépemc First Nations is an asset.
- Must hold a current valid BC Driver’s license.
- A background in resource management activities with a strong working knowledge of government policy will be an asset.
- Must pass Criminal Record Check.
Financial Responsibility:
- This position may be responsible for multiple project budgets from time to time.
Supervision or Training Duties:
- This position may require some supervisory duties from time to time. To develop the necessary skills, specific training may be also required.

- Demonstrated experience and ability building and maintaining cooperative and productive relationships and effectively liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of contracts and processes, policies and program delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated through the ability to facilitate, network, lead, research, negotiate, analyze and resolve issues.
- Ability to establish communication mechanisms to ensure staff, colleagues and stakeholders are regularly informed.
- Advanced computer skills, specifically with Microsoft suite of products.
- Strong analytical, organizational, coordination and planning skills.
- Ability to research, collect and verify data and prepare associated reports and other documents.
- Proven expertise in establishing project priorities and ability to meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated and strong ability to take initiative.
- Strong work ethic, tact and diplomacy.
- Teamwork and cooperation, service orientation, problem solving and judgement skills.
- Ability to work in multi-cultural settings.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

HOURS OF WORK: Normal Day shifts – 7 hours. Non-normal shifts may be required.
PAY GRADE: Starting at $30.53 – $36.91 depending on qualifications and experience.
