POSITION TITLE: Payroll Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Finance Department
SUPERVISOR: Financial Managers
TERMS: Full-Time, Permanent

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting in processing bi-weekly payrolls for TteS and its related entities, filing, and maintenance of employee files. This position is also responsible for federal and provincial remittances as well as maintenance and reporting of internal payroll schedules.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides efficient and effective bookkeeping, clerical and administrative work relating to payroll in accordance with the approved practices, policies, budgets, standards and guidelines. (95%)
- Processes timesheets for employees on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and appropriate approvals.
- Prepares all payroll claims, reports, and remittances on a timely basis for approval.
- Assist in the data input and processing of payroll data.
- Creates and maintains employee personnel files for all active including creating folders, coding paperwork,
reviewing paperwork and documentation for accuracy.
- Completes and ensures accuracy of income verification requests, upon request.
- Ensures garnishment enforcements are completed.
- Assists with preparing annual T’4s for employees of the TteS and its related entities on a timely basis.
- Processes and maintains various employee leave forms.
- Cooperates with department managers with compiling attendance reports, addressing inquiries,
and troubleshooting. - Prepare and completes Records of Employment when needed.
- Participates in workshop training programs and seminars to upgrade skills and knowledge relevant to position.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with TteS policies, standards and procedures and as directed in accordance with TteS policies, standards and procedures and as directed.
- Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of TteS.
5% Other related duties as necessary.
Professional Certification, Education and Experience:
Some post-secondary education in finance and 2 years experience in accounts receivable or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have previous experience with accounting systems, word and excel.
Previous accounting and payroll experience is an asset.
Must pass criminal record check.
Skills and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting systems.
• Strong Knowledge of payroll deductions as required by CRA
• Strong Knowledge of WorkSafe BC, Employment Standards (federal/provincial), TteS Personnel Policy
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Strong bookkeeping skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong ability to be flexible and take initiative.
• Strong tact and diplomacy.
• Ability to work independently and use good judgment, focus on details.
• Ability to organize workload, set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and monitor compliance with payroll policies and procedures.
• Ability to accurately enter, retrieve and modify information from a variety of sources into a number of different computer programs.
HOURS OF WORK: Normal Day shifts – 7 hours. Non-normal shifts may be required.
PAY GRADE: Starting at $20.08-$22.18 depending on education & experience.
