Purpose of Position:

The Controller – SEDC & Subsidiaries is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and multi-entity financial consolidation across SEDC and its affiliated corporations.

This role plays a critical stewardship function within the organization. The Controller ensures the integrity, accuracy, and transparency of financial information while supporting leadership and subsidiary managers in meeting performance targets, governance expectations, and strategic objectives.

Working closely with SEDC leadership, subsidiary managers, the Board of Directors, and Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Finance, the Controller supports responsible growth and ensures that financial decision-making aligns with both economic objectives and Secwépemc values.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Consolidation

  • Prepare monthly financial statements for SEDC and all subsidiary entities.
  • Consolidate financial reporting across multiple corporations and partnerships.
  • Oversee intercompany reconciliations and ensure accuracy across entities.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow across entities.
  • Provide variance analysis against approved budgets.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reporting packages for leadership and Board review.

 

Governance, Controls & Stewardship

  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal financial controls.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Strengthen financial processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Support financial performance tracking aligned with SEDC’s mandate and strategic plan.

 

Collaboration & Partnership

  • Serve as primary financial liaison between SEDC and Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Finance.
  • Collaborate with managers to promote financial literacy and accountability.
  • Provide clear financial insight to leadership and the Board.
  • Support strong communication and alignment between corporate entities and the Nation.

Professional Certification, Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, supplemented by a professional accounting designation or an equivalent combination of advanced education and extensive, senior-level accounting experience in complex, multi-entity environments.
  • Minimum 5+ years progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience managing multi-entity or consolidated financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls and audit processes.
  • Experience working within Indigenous organizations or economic development environments is considered an asset.

 

Financial Responsibility

  • Support subsidiary managers in developing annual operating budgets.
  • Review and validate financial assumptions and projections.
  • Develop consolidated budgets and forecasts across entities.
  • Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support financial evaluation of acquisitions, partnerships, and new business opportunities.

HOURS OF WORK:           Normal Day shifts – 7 hours. Non-normal shifts may be required.

PAY GRADE:                       Starting at $52.04-$58.80/ depending on education and experience
